Unfortunately, Dr. Peterson doesn’t have any extended writing on the topic, but he does have a couple excellent lectures on the topic. So, in this case, I’m going to make an exception and include embedded videos.
Normally, I would download the videos and host them from a free-speech safe location. However, given the fact that these are full, unedited clips, and the fact that this site doesn’t have much in the way of bandwidth, I’m going to have to remote link to the youtube videos themselves.
The first clip is a classroom lecture, outlining Peterson’s basic view of free speech as an instrumental value, serving “true speech”. The second clip is a full lecture on the necessity of free speech, in which Peterson explains the necessity of true speech, and its relation to the fundamental value of individual human life.
